the pump working?
We have two quick steps that should get the pump started. First, remove the clear cap and twist the top of the pump clockwise a full rotation or two and then do the same counterclockwise. Now try to pump the product, it may take a few pumps to get started. If that doesn’t work, please put the cap back on the pump and turn it upside down and tap is firmly on the table 3 or 4 times. (Be sure you are using a solid surface that won’t mark, scratch or dent.) Now try to pump the product - again it may take a few pumps to get started. If you are still having trouble with the pump, please contact our Customer Care line at 1-800-393-3848.

At Puristics, our products go a step beyond most "natural products" because we make sure they’re pure and effective. We created all of our products using the latest science to unleash the power of naturally derived ingredients. We’ve combined them in unique ways to maximize their effectiveness. No harsh chemicals or fragrances are added at any point in the process. With Puristics products, you never have to choose between purity and effectiveness.
The Skin Deep database is maintained by the Environmental Working Group, who independently reviews ingredient lists of personal care products to determine their level of toxicity. Once a product has reached mass-distribution levels, the EWG assesses each ingredient as listed on the pack and publishes its findings in the database. We have no involvement with the Skin Deep database or the Environmental Working Group and no influence over the timing or outcome of their reviews. We are pleased that an independent resource gives you important information to help you evaluate your personal care product choices.
Our unique skincare formula is created by combining two innovative anti-aging ingredients, a yeast ferment and a protein peptide, into one powerful, naturally occurring peptide complex. The yeast ferment and the hexapeptide-11 (one of the few peptides that is derived from natural sources) work in combination to help support the natural ability of skin to produce collagen, an essential building block for resilient, healthy looking skin. By taking these two potent, all-natural ingredients and blending them in unique ratios through a special fermentation process, we’ve created cosmetically elegant products that enhance the skin's youthful appearance. Significant improvements in firmness, elasticity, moisture levels and the reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles have all been demonstrated in a clinical trial.
No, the "dirty dozen" are excluded from all Puristics products. According to the Green Guide, consumers should avoid these 12 chemical ingredients often found in cosmetics and other personal-care products:
1. Antibacterials: Overuse might be contributing to increasingly resistant bacteria, and they contaminate the environment. Triclosan is the agent used in many soaps.
2. Coal tar: Possible carcinogen in dandruff shampoos and anti-itch creams. Dyes with a coal tar base are used in toothpaste (FD&C Blue 1) and mouthwash (FD&C Green 3).
3. DEA: Stands for diethanolamine and is used in shampoos to increase lather. Can affect hormones and cell functioning and development.
4. 1,4-Dioxane: May show up as a contaminant in personal care items, including shampoo and body wash; in products that contain sodium laureth sulfate; and ingredients expressed as "PEG," "-xynol," "ceteareth," and "oleth."
5. Formaldehyde: Found in such personal care products as baby bath soap, nail polish, and hair dyes as a contaminant or break-down product of diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, bronopol, and quaternium compounds. Formaldehyde is a probable human carcinogen and can have other toxic effects.
6. Fragrance and phthalates: The term "fragrance" can be hiding suspect substances called phthalates, which may affect hormones and cause reproductive and developmental harm.
7. Lead and mercury: Lead can show up as trace elements in personal care products and cosmetics. Mercury, found in the preservative thimerosal, is in some mascaras.
8. Nanoparticles: Tiny particles of certain ingredients can facilitate their absorption into the skin, potentially causing cell damage.
9. Parabens: Common preservatives in personal care products, parabens became controversial due to their estrogenic effects in some animal studies. Check for methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, butyl- and isobutylparaben.
10. Petroleum distillates: Check for the terms "petroleum" and "liquid paraffin" in such personal care products. The European Union restricts or prohibits petroleum distillates as possible human carcinogens.
11. PPD: P-Phenylenediamine can be found in hair dyes and may cause irritation and damage to the nervous system and lungs.
12. Hydroquinone: Can be found in skin creams and under-eye treatments. Limited evidence links it to cancer in laboratory animals.
Puristics does not use any of these ingredients in the production of their Puristics Totally Ageless skincare line. Additionally, Puristics Pure Protection feminine protection products are free from harsh chemicals and materials, including dioxins and synthetics.

Any discoloration in our anti-aging skin care products (specifically, Puristics Totally Ageless Advanced Skin Rejuvenating Lotion) is due to the presence of one ingredient, Vitamin C, which is listed on the label as sodium ascorbyl phosphate. This antioxidant helps supplement skin's defense against environmental assaults such as sun damage and pollution. It is normal for this ingredient to cause some discoloration - - the safety and quality of the product are not affected by the color change. Testing conducted by our manufacturing facility confirms that the effectiveness of the product is not affected despite a small change in color.
No, because there's no place for it to go. The tampon has to stay in your vagina, which is a blind sac only 3" to 5" long. There is an opening from your vagina to your uterus through your cervix, but it's smaller than the head of a pin (much too small for a tampon to squeeze through)!
You can wear a tampon for up to 8 hours. Your flow level will determine how often you should change your tampon, and what absorbency you should use. Your flow will usually be heaviest at the beginning of your period. That's why you may want to use a tampon with a different absorbency range during your period. You should use a tampon with the lowest absorbency to meet your needs.
If a woman experiences difficulty inserting the tampon, she may want to try a lower absorbency level tampon than the one she is trying to insert. Puristics Pure Protection tampons are available with and without an applicator and in a range of absorbencies.
No. Menstrual flow is the result of discharge of tissue and blood from inside of the uterine cavity. Use of tampons does not stop the flow of menstrual fluid and has no effect on the release of fluid from the uterus. The tampon is designed to absorb fluid while still in the vagina. The tampon will become saturated and leaking will occur should more fluid be released than can be absorbed by the tampon. Rate of flow is not affected by the tampon.
Always use tampons with the lowest absorbency to meet your needs. Every box of tampons includes an absorbency range to help you choose the right product. Tampons are available in several ranges of absorbency: Light (less than 6 grams), Regular (6-9 grams), Super (9-12 grams), Super Plus (12-15 grams) and Ultra (15-18 grams). Each absorbency range represents the grams of fluid that can be absorbed by all manufacturers’ tampons based on a standardized laboratory test. Use this information to compare the absorbency of Puristics tampons to other brands.
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare but serious and sometimes fatal disease associated with tampon use. About half of the cases are associated with tampon use and the remaining half occur in women who are not menstruating, men, and children.
Warning signs include sudden high fever (usually 102°F/38.8°C or more), vomiting, diarrhea, fainting or near fainting when standing up, dizziness, or a rash that looks like sunburn. Other signs include muscle and joint aches, redness of the eyes, sore throat, and weakness. TSS can rapidly progress from flu-like symptoms to a serious illness that can be fatal. If you have one or more of these warning signs, immediately remove your tampon and contact your doctor. TSS is a treatable disease when warning signs are addressed early. There is a risk of TSS to all women using tampons during their menstrual period. Scientists believe that TSS requires toxins produced by staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium that sometimes causes infections.
It has been estimated that 1-17 of every 100,000 menstruating women and girls will get TSS each year. The risk is reported to be higher for teens and women under 30. Studies indicate that higher absorbency tampons increase the risk of getting TSS. Therefore, to reduce the risk of getting TSS, use a tampon with the minimum absorbency needed for your menstrual flow. You can also reduce the risk of TSS by alternating tampon use with feminine pads. You can avoid the risk of tampon-associated TSS by using pads instead of tampons. Consult your doctor if you have any questions about TSS, tampon use, or have experienced any warning symptoms of TSS in the past.
Yes, both our tampons and applicators are biodegradable and therefore safe to flush. Of course, plumbing systems can vary. If you live in an area with known septic system issues, use your judgment when choosing whether or not to flush tampons and applicators.
No, your fingertip stays protected by the tampon. After you unwrap the Puristics Pure Protection non-applicator tampon you pull the string to widen the base and that's where you put your finger. When you insert the tampon, your fingertip stays surrounded by the cotton fibers. Since there's no applicator between you and the tampon, the Puristics non-applicator tampon begins to absorb as you insert it.Click here for insertion instructions.
Since most applicators are straight and the vagina curves, many women find insertion to be easier and are surprised at their instinctive ability to know where to place their tampon without needing an applicator. Fingertip insertion gives a woman more control, allowing her to follow the natural curve of the vaginal canal and insert the tampon where it is most comfortable for her body.
Because you insert Puristics Pure Protection non-applicator tampons with your finger instead of an applicator, you can control where the tampon goes. When the tampon is in the right place, you won't feel it. And there is no need to worry that you could insert a tampon too far inside your vagina. It's just not possible. Click here for insertion instructions.
Yes. For starters, if you take your usual tampon out of the applicator you'll see that it's not much bigger. It's just a different shape. Puristics non-applicator tampons expand evenly to fit your natural shape. So you know you're getting exactly the protection you need.
